Good Neighbor Awards

REALTOR® Magazine publishes an annual feature article recognizing winners of the Good Neighbor Award: REALTORS® who devote staggering amounts of time and money into charitable endeavors that impact many. These REALTOR® heroes were recognized during Saturday’s opening session, and I was lucky enough to be an attendee at a dinner in their honor last evening.

During the dinner presentation, each award winner was presented with a trophy and a $10,000 check for their charity. Each honoree spoke for about five minutes. I was awe-struck by a commonality among these superstars: their utter ordinariness. I mean that in a good way. They all delivered great remarks that yielded fascinating insights into who they are as people and how their pet charities have stoked their passions, but each one was a perfectly ordinary individual who seized an opportunity or who capitalized upon success to benefit folks in need.

The Good Neighbor Awards shine a bright light on folks who make our whole industry look good through their extraordinary work. They also serve as an annual reminder that opportunities abound in the lives of ordinary, hardworking REALTORS® for us to make our industry and our communities meaningfully better all the time.

Take a few minutes to watch the extraordinary well produced videos from REALTOR® Magazine that profile this year’s winners. There was hardly a dry eye in the opening session of the convention when these videos finished playing.
